Saturday, June 30 marked the grand opening of Cully Park on NE 72nd Avenue between Columbia and Killingsworth, the culmination of years of work by the Let Us Build Cully Park coalition to transform a former landfill into a 25-acre city park in Portland’s Cully neighborhood, one of the state’s most diverse communities.
The building of the park relied on a strong public-private collaboration that enlisted the Cully community, the Native American community, city and state government, corporate sponsors and non-profit stakeholders. Features of the long-awaited park include a community garden, Native gathering area, off-leash dog area, sports fields, paths and a play area.
