The former Grove Hotel in Old Town/Chinatown on West Burnside between 5th and 6th avenues will open this fall as The Hoxton, one of a series of boutique-style hotels inspired by diverse and original neighborhoods.

The $22 million project launched in 2014 with the sale of the Prosper Portland-owned site to a team led by Naito Development. The Hoxton group opened its first hotel in 2006 in Shoreditch, London and has since added another London location as well as Amsterdam, Paris, and Brooklyn, with three more coming online in 2019 in Chicago, Los Angeles and the U.K.

The opening of the hotel marks a milestone for the neighborhood, activating the prominent location near the Chinatown Gate, and bringing positive economic activity that will contribute to the real and perceived safety of the neighborhood.
