The Prosper Portland Events and Film Office awards $103,910 to Support Community Events and Neighborhood Shopping Districts.

The Events & Film Office at Prosper Portland is proud to announce the inaugural awardees of the Uniquely Portland Event Grant, an innovative program to incentivize events in areas where small businesses can also benefit.

The program provides grants for community groups and event producers hosting events throughout Portland, and is designed to bolster community and culture while also driving foot traffic for local small businesses. Thirty-five events received funding, with grant amounts ranging from $1,000 – $7,500 depending on the size of the event and the event location’s proximity to small businesses.

“This is a program that didn’t exist six months ago and I’m proud of how quickly we moved to stand the grant up and get funds out to our community event producers,” said Office of Events and Film Senior Project Manager Amanda Park. “We recognize this type of support for local events is essential and we are thrilled to provide these funds. These events support local businesses and add energy and vibrancy to neighborhoods across Portland.”

The Events and Film Office estimates that these events will draw more than 69,000 people. Based on the 2022 Arts Economic Prosperity 6 report, the typical event attendee spends $38.46 per person (not including cost of admission), indicating a potential economic impact of $2,600,000 from these events.
