Prosper Portland has selected Nu Leaf as the provider for the agency’s Cannabis Business Development Equity Program, a new initiative to address technical assistance needs for cannabis entrepreneurs from communities that have historically been disproportionately, negatively impacted by the prohibition of cannabis.
Nu Leaf staff members were instrumental in founding and growing the Minority Cannabis Business Association (MCBA), the first and largest organization to assist people of color with entry and advocacy into the cannabis industry. The City of Portland has allocated $150,000 from cannabis tax revenues to fund the technical assistance program. The organization will join Prosper Portland’s Inclusive Business Resource Network. Nu Leaf’s clients will be able to benefit from a range of services this network provides and organizations in the network can learn more about how to work with entrepreneurs in the cannabis industry.
