Kashiwa-no-ha Smart City, a project rooted in PDC’s We Build Green Cities collaboration with local green building experts to provide greater access to new markets, has won the MIPIM Best Future Mega Project Award. Created in 1991, the MIPIM Awards is an internationally renowned real estate competition at MIPIM, the world’s property market, which honors the most outstanding and accomplished projects, completed or yet to be built, around the world.

In 2014, Mitsui Fudosan, the largest real estate development firm in Japan, hired the We Build Green Cities team (ZGF Architects, GLUMAC, and Murase Associates supported by PDC and EcoNorthwest) to develop a conceptual master plan for the Kashiwa-no-ha expansion.  The project is Japan’s first LEED-ND Platinum project. It ranks among the biggest LEED-ND Platinum projects in the world and meets the highest international standards for optimizing environmental and human health performance.  The goal is to build a smart city that is aligned with the environment, promotes long and healthy lives, and cultivates industrial innovation.
