Portland Winter Ice Rink Extends Dates

The Portland Winter Ice Rink returns to downtown Portland this holiday season. The ice rink will again be located adjacent to Tom McCall Waterfront Park and the Morrison Bridgehead, 499 SW Naito Parkway. The rink will operate Saturday, November 16 through Sunday, January 5 with 90-minute skate sessions from 10 am to 10 pm each day. Presale tickets will be available on Monday, October 14.

Construction of the rink starts Monday, November 4 and the entire buildout will be complete by Friday, November 15. In addition to the ice rink, the Winter Village will return and will showcase Portland in art, music, food, and light through experiences curated by Vida En Color.

“Prosper Portland and the city, along with private sector and non-profit partners have been hard at work coordinating activations and events for the holiday season and the new year,” said Prosper Portland Interim Executive Director Shea Flaherty Betin. “Through longtime favorites and new activities, we invite residents and visitors to explore downtown, support local businesses, and enjoy all that our amazing city has to offer.”

Ice-America will once again build and operate the rink on behalf of Prosper Portland. “Ice-America is super excited to be a part of this wonderful new tradition in Downtown Portland,” said Ice-America CEO Scott Williams. “Our team is busy preparing for a bigger and better Portland Holiday Ice Rink, hosted in a vibrant city center and celebrating the city’s iconic neighborhoods and diverse community.”

As part of the lead-up to rink construction and opening, Ice-America is hiring temporary positions for the 2024 skating season. They expect to hire 25-35 local residents during the 2024 season. Skaters and non-skaters alike are encouraged to visit the ice rink jobs page for more information.
