Daugherty is the cofounder and outgoing director of Built Oregon.
Mitch Daugherty has been hired to serve as a manager in the new Office of Small Business (OSB) at Prosper Portland. The OSB will build upon the existing work of Prosper Portland and partner organizations, while also working to improve the delivery of small business programs, services, and regulations for the City of Portland and Prosper Portland. Its objectives are to assist businesses in navigating resources, establish a central point of access for information and assistance, and promote the improvement of service delivery and referral processes in coordination with City bureau staff.
“We are very excited to have Mitch join us at this critical time,” said Prosper Portland Interim Executive Director Shea Flaherty Betin. “Through his years leading Built Oregon, Mitch has gained a deep knowledge of Oregon’s consumer product ecosystem. He has also founded small businesses and spent the last few years advising young entrepreneurs. I am confident this unique combination of skills and experience, coupled with his passion for the work, will enable Mitch to have an immediate and positive impact on Portland’s small business community. I also want to acknowledge Commissioner Carmen Rubio for her leadership in the development of the OSB. Standing the office up is a priority for City Council and I’m pleased to note the office will soon be up and running.”
“This new role represents an opportunity to use what I’ve learned working with founders and local small businesses over the past 15-plus years to create better and more comprehensive ways to support Portland’s vibrant small business community,” said Daugherty. “I am excited about the new challenge and opportunities associated with the Office of Small Business.”
Daugherty will join Prosper Portland in mid-October. The Office of Small Business will officially launch in early 2025.
