A sunny summer Saturday drew approximately 4,000 people to the second My People’s Market on June 30 – nearly quadrupling the participation at the inaugural market held last November.
This unique event, a collaboration led by Travel Portland and Prosper Portland, celebrates Portland’s multicultural small business owners and entrepreneurs of color. The market took place at Rose Quarter Commons in NE Portland. Close to 100 vendors generated an estimated $35,000 in immediate sales plus contracting opportunities, wholesale accounts and business leads.
Prosper Portland’s Inclusive Business Resource Network and its Mercatus platform have played a significant role in the continued development of My People’s Market, with a shared goal of elevating the stories of entrepreneurs of color and increasing opportunities for diverse communities to expand market reach.
