Local clean tech company raises $13 million

ESS, a local flow battery maker that has participated in Prosper Portland’s clean tech investor matchmaking as well as in agency-sponsored trade show opportunities is celebrating a big win—$13 million in Series B financing. The new investment round is a direct result of Prosper Portland’s program.

ESS started in Portland at the Portland State Business Accelerator and last year launched its manufacturing line in Tualatin. Prosper Portland introduced the company to Pangaea, which also invested in its Series A funding), and to investor BASF, and has provided considerable assistance over the years.
