In response to a resident survey as well as requests by current food cart operators at Nelson Plaza in the Kenton neighborhood, PDC will allow the sale of beer or wine for consumption on premise from food vendors who obtain required OLCC permits and insurance. In addition, PDC has opened a new round of requests for applications to fill at least two more cart sites and establish a waiting list for additional vendors. Interested food cart operators are invited to apply by Monday, April 10 at 5:00 p.m.
The food cart pod at 8411 North Denver Avenue resulted from a community advisory process with PDC staff to redesign and construct the corner parking lot, a project that required removal of past contaminated soil. The redesign incorporated such elements as a community kiosk, landscaping, elevated planters, built-in benches, string lighting and signage and designated up to six parking stalls to be food carts to achieve the community’s desire to activate this section of Denver Avenue. PDC has invested a significant amount of funds in the parking lot, the Nelson buildings and Kenton. It is, and remains, PDC’s strong desire and intention, to have the food carts be successful and contribute to the vitality of the Kenton Neighborhood.
