Elected officials, local small businesses, contributing artists, and neighboring property owners will join representatives of Palindrome and Prosper Portland to celebrate the completion of the Lents Community Plaza on Thursday, November 9 at 3 pm.
Initial remarks will take place indoors at The ZED Pavilion, 5718 SE 92nd Avenue, followed by the “ribbon cutting,” which will be a keg-tapping in the outdoor space of the plaza.
The Community Plaza resulted from a Disposition and Development Agreement Prosper Portland and Palindrome entered into in 2019. It was part of the transaction and investment Prosper Portland made for redevelopment of 40,698 square feet of existing buildings known as the Bakery Blocks into a neighborhood commercial center with a public plaza, neighborhood tool library, and renovated commercial space.
The plaza will provide a permanent home to the Lents International Farmers Market and an important community gathering place for residents of and visitors to Lents Town Center.
“The Lents Community Plaza is just the latest in several investments made by Palindrome in our Lents neighborhood over the last ten years. We have put deep roots in this community, and we are so proud to partner with Prosper Portland in continuing this important work,” said Chad Rennaker, president of Palindrome.
Prosper Portland Executive Director Kimberly Branam said, “Today’s opening of the Community Plaza is yet another milestone in our longtime work to advance the Lents Five-Year Action Plan, which is centered around creating vibrant communities and corridors; advancing affordability by stimulating development that positively benefits the Lents Town Center; and connecting through community partnerships.”
The food pavilion will be open for purchase of beverages and food after the ceremony.
