James Beard Public Market

The James Beard Public Market is a transformational space for families and communities to congregate and celebrate Portland as an American culinary destination. Slated to open in 2027, the market will be home to more than 40 new small businesses in the Central City.

Envisioned as a dynamic, community-centered marketplace that honors the legacy of James Beard, the James Beard Public Market will be a vibrant, inclusive, year-round public market with more than 40 vendors, including a fishmonger, butcher, florist, mushroom vendor, prepared foods, dry goods, and wine sellers. An anchor restaurant, teaching kitchen, cookbook store, event space, and rooftop garden/bar are all planned for the space

Prosper Portland and the City of Portland have supported the James Beard Public Market with $250,000 in predevelopment funding and close to $3 million in loan and grant funding for construction and design. Construction began in Fall 2025 and the market is slated to open in Spring 2027.
