Are grant funds taxable, and will I receive tax documentation?

Most grants issued by local governments are considered taxable income by the IRS, however issues of taxability may be specific to the organization and their respective tax status. In accordance with IRS guidelines, Prosper Portland will issue a form 1099-G to all grant recipients and furnish that information to the IRS in January. Prosper Portland cannot provide tax advice and recommend organizations consult a tax advisor or the IRS for additional support.
