On Thursday, August 25, PDC joined Instrument, Portland Independent Chamber of Commerce (PICOC), TiE Oregon and Black Investment Corporation for Economic Progress (BICEP) to sponsor Pitch Black, an event giving African-American startup entrepreneurs a platform to connect with the region’s growing startup ecosystem. Ten entrepreneurs – all black – made their pitches to the audience and then fielded questions about their ideas. Attendees voted for three winners who split the prize money equally, a pot of $4000 thanks to a sold-out crowd. PDC’s Startup PDX Challenge alum ClientJoy – also a sponsor of the event – was one of the winning finalists.
