The goal of the N/NE Community Development Initiative (CDI) is to use Tax Increment Financing (TIF) resources in a way that fosters economic prosperity for African Americans and people of color. The Initiative has produced a plan that establishes investment priorities for the remaining $32 million in Tax Increment Financing (TIF) resources for economic development within the Interstate Corridor Urban Renewal Area (ICURA). Since January 2016, PDC has sought input from a variety of community stakeholders and leaders from the private, non-profit, and government sectors. Our outreach to the broader community included two successful, well-attended community forums held on October 6 and October 20 at the New Song Community Center.
Attendees of the Community Forums provided feedback on the 80% Complete Discussion Draft Action Plan and the 85% Complete Final Plan, which included three key objectives and six related action items derived from earlier discussion with the N/NE Community Development Initiative Subcommittee, the stakeholder interviews and focus groups.
Feedback from the two Community Forums will be folded into a 90% Final Draft Action Plan and presented at the PDC board meeting on Wednesday, November 9, 2016. Notification about the PDC board meeting and the 90% Draft Final Plan will be posted on the PDC website by Friday, November 4, 2016.
