The Portland Development Commission’s support of the city’s growing entrepreneurial scene will now include an entrepreneur-in-residence: startup veteran Bill Lynch, who will advise the agency for the next 12 months on developing programs and initiatives that separate Portland’s industry growth from other competitor cities.
Lynch co-founded and was a top executive at Jive Software, which had a successful initial public offering in 2011. His experience and interest in helping startups, the technology industry, and the city in general will be a critical element in PDC’s ongoing efforts to support entrepreneurship, cluster industries including software/technology, and economic activity in strategic neighborhoods.
Lynch said, “I’m excited to work with the PDC to find ways to help Portland startups thrive. There has been a lot of positive growth in the last several years and I hope to do what I can to continue this trend.”
Executive Director Patrick Quinton said, “Bill Lynch is a brilliant startup strategist who is already jumping right in with bright ideas to amp up Portland’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. We’re delighted to have his advice and energy fueling our work to support locally-based innovation across industries.”
