Nineteen startups out of 94 applicants have made the first cut in the Startup PDX Challenge 2015, and Tanglewood Beverage Company won the People’s Choice Award during the public vote November 2-9.
The Tanglewood founders will receive a scholarship for a class of their choice at the Small Business Development Center (SBDC); three months of free coworking at Deskhub; and free memberships and access to four different organizations and programs that focus on entrepreneurs.
The six final winners of the Challenge, which will be announced in mid-December, will receive a package valued at more than $50,000 per company with up to $25,000 in a convertible note or low-interest loan, a full year of rent-free office space at 222 NW Fifth Avenue in Portland’s Old Town/Chinatown neighborhood, and free professional advice, memberships and services.
