The Portland Main Street Program, launched on January 14 by the City of Portland and the Portland Development Commission, will move into the application phase with two workshops scheduled for February 2 and 3 at the Oregon Association of Minority Entrepreneurs, 4134 N. Vancouver Avenue.

The Main Street Application Workshops will take place on Tuesday, February 2, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and on Wednesday, February 3, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Attendance at one of these workshops is mandatory for any group wishing to apply for the program, and two representatives from each potential applicant group must attend in order for their organization to remain eligible. Any interested parties are strongly encouraged to attend even if they have not decided to move forward with an application.

The Main Street program offers opportunities for a limited number of groups interested in forming a Main Street organization focused on their neighborhood business district to receive both financial and technical assistance intended to help build the organizational capacity necessary to revitalize their neighborhood commercial areas.

The workshops are open to the public. Interested parties may contact Claudia Plaza, Main Street Coordinator, at 503-823-3234, or visit the PDC Main Street Program website, www.pdc.us/mainstreet for more information.
