Patrick Quinton, executive director of the Portland Development Commission, has announced the opportunity for interested community members to nominate themselves or others for PDC’s citywide Neighborhood Economic Development (NED) Leadership Group. Formed in 2011, the broad charge of the group is to guide the implementation of the NED Strategy adopted by City Council and coordinate resources for the Strategy’s actions.

PDC will accept new nominations for the NED Leadership Group until Tuesday, September 13, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. The application form is available at: www.pdc.us/NEDLeadership.

“The NED Leadership Group is critical to our ongoing commitment to provide community input to the city’s economic development and redevelopment efforts,” said Quinton. “We hope to see a range of applicants who are demographically and geographically diverse, and who bring the desired experience, expertise and background for community-driven economic development.”

Relevant experience includes business district development, business ownership and management, community leadership and engagement, financial lending and resource development, market analysis, neighborhood revitalization and redevelopment, small business development, and workforce development and higher education.

The nomination and appointment process will guarantee representation from the Interstate, Gateway, and Lents urban renewal areas. A nomination committee will review all applications/nominations and recommend potential members to PDC for appointment.
