Local entrepreneur Chaunci King, founder of craft liquor startup Royalty Spirits and a member of PDC’s Startup PDX Challenge class of 2016, has launched a $20,000 Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign to fund the development of a new flavored vodka and expand into new markets.
Royalty Spirits, founded in 2013, produces Miru Vodka, inspired by King’s dissatisfaction with available flavored vodkas and crafted to appeal to women with a more refined palate. As a former bartender, King had lots of experience making drinks that women enjoy. While Portland’s craft liquor scene is blowing up, it lacks representation of women, especially women of color. King wants to change this by eventually launching her own distillery and mentoring other women to get into the industry. She invites anyone interested in supporting a new generation of craft liquor producers to support her campaign to add a new product to her Royalty Spirits line.
