The opportunity to weigh in on the development of the Broadway Corridor, a 24-acre site in northwest Portland with the potential to transform the area, drew 200 people to the Ambridge Event Center on Wednesday, December 7. The discussion included a panel of local and national experts; participants also broke into small groups to identify top priorities for the development.
The project includes the 11-acre U.S. Postal Service site recently acquired by PDC, as well as historic Union Station, and could develop space for 4,000 jobs and more than 3,000 residents, with thirty percent of the residential development set aside for affordable housing. PDC’s overarching goals are to be clear from the start about who will benefit from the opportunities created, and involve broad, equitable participation in designing the area, from planning through development.
