PDC joins Zenger Farm to “Grow the Grange”

July 30, 2014

PDC has a long history with Zenger Farm – our financial support over the years is close to $800K and has helped with farmhouse renovations, the community supported agriculture program, and the community garden, and now the Farm’s latest project: the Urban Grange. PDC Executive Director Patrick Quinton was pleased to join the Zenger Farm community at 11741 SE Foster Road on July 21 to celebrate the groundbreaking.

The concept of the urban agricultural center is a priority in the Lents Five Year Action Plan, and represents the kind of community connection that is so vital to PDC’s work in strengthening neighborhoods, encouraging entrepreneurship, and reaching out to our most vulnerable citizens. PDC has supported the Lents International Farmers Market with money and land for that same purpose. We’re pleased to invest in the Urban Grange with $300,000 through PDC’s Community Livability Grant program – this project really connects with PDC’s goals for healthy neighborhoods, environmental safekeeping, access to open space and strong community identity and involvement.
