The Enterprise Zone program, administered by Prosper Portland, has been one of the city’s most powerful tools to spur capital investment by companies while leveraging opportunities for employment and skills training for local residents and communities.

On October 11, Portland City Council voted to accept Prosper Portland’s proposed amendments to the program and E-zone boundaries. The changes place much stronger emphasis on relationships, make it easier for companies to participate in the program, and will create more opportunities for Prosper Portland to partner with businesses and develop public benefits that resonate for both company and the full community.

In introducing the proposal, Mayor Ted Wheeler said, “When we create policy that enables companies to do more, we see the positive results in neighborhoods and among residents throughout the city. That is the path to an equitable economy.”
